Fun-a-day

http://artclash.com/

Although I don't live in Philly, I'm still intrigued by the concept. Create your own project and produce one piece of artwork each day for the entire month of January.

Do I want to take this on?

Mod Podge = Awesome

A few weeks ago idiy.com had a post about vintage french labels. It could not have come at a more perfect time as I was in the middle of planning my French market themed b-day bash. Their link suggested to use a glue stick but I wanted something with more permanence. My partner-in-crime Molly suggested Mod Podge which I had never really used.

I could not be more happy with the results! We used the matte version of the product over the various glass bottles we had collected. I really like the effect it gave as it made the glass more frosted and vintage looking. In the end we probably did about 12 vases, which really became the pièce de résistance.

Recovering Chairs

Simple enough. We have been using my SILs old set since we moved because our gigantic table and chairs will not fit in our current dining room. The chairs however were just plain beat up. She had gave me some fabric that she had bought herself to cover them with.

It was a nice heavy duty fabric, but I was really attracted to the other side...and thats what I ended up using. Cost to do this...nothing, aside from some staples for the gun and the labor of my husband to help.

Bird Houses

I made these little birdhouses a few weeks ago. I originally wanted to place them behind the drink table at my recent party but instead opted for the sad corner of my front porch. I love these little guys although I am a little scared as I read an article a few weeks ago that talked about how bad these little bird houses were for you know, actual birds. I hope that wasps do not decide to make it their home...

I had the kids help in painting them with me. They really had a great time and I wasn't worried about how perfect it was since I was planning on white washing them and making them look old anyways. They sell them for $1 a piece at any local craft store. I bought mine at Joann Fabric.

Finished product. I love them

She's crafty!

I cannot wait till this weekend! I have been doing so many craft projects for my french market theme party that I cannot wait to share. I feel that I can't post any of them now as to not give away too much.

Farewell Domino Magazine

One of my favorite design magazines just printed its last issue. I got a notice stating that they would be replacing it with Glamour

I really enjoyed their magazine. Their design ideas weren't too pricey and gave great hints. They have only been around since 05 and I'm pretty sure I probably have all issues.
