Very very cute! Thanks to the Magic Onion for this great, kid-friendly craft. I hate throwing away magazines.

Damask Kitchens

I know this trend is going to die a horrible death soon but in the meantime....

Agence Eureka

I love stumbling upon websites that have a huge collection of ephemera. Agence Eureka does just that. The site is in French, but pretty easy to figure out.

There is also a link to their flickr page which might make it easier.

Hello Monday

Hello my lovelies. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did, and am trying the best I can to be chipper and get through this week.I was busy busy busy this weekend but at the same time had a completely relaxing time.

I redid my front entrance to our house. I woke up early Sunday morning to try and beat the heat. Luckily I had two workers (my 12 and 11 year old) who helped me pull weeds and re-pot some plants.

I received these planters from a friend a few months ago. They aren't real stone but the surface is very porous so I knew paint would take to it easy. I ended up just buying some spray paint to make the job easier. I am in love with the front of the house now. I still have some work to do and I wish I was home to do it!

I had a craft brunch with my girlfriends Rare Bird and Dysfunctional Crafter. Thanks ladies for the good times, food, and conversation!

I also found two cool teal retro chairs out on the curb in my neighborhood. I'm going to clean them up and I'll share when I do. So as you can see I had a creative filled weekend...thats probably why I feel so relaxed ;)

Concrete Book End

The weekend is almost upon us. Anybody have anything going on? Hopefully, it will be a nice quiet weekend (I'm getting old yikes). It is supposed to rain at some point as we are getting remnants of a tropical depression hitting farther south. I'm looking forward to snuggling on the couch with my family and watching a movie. I asked the kids what they wanted to watch and they told me to surprise them ha! We have been going through some retro movies this summer. Ferris Bueller, Adventures in Babysitting, Dirty Dancing, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Maybe its time to introduce them to the Candy Man and watch Uncle Buck. I remember I always used to use a line in that movie when describing my uncle..."I'm stunned I'm related to you"

I've got some projects to undertake around the house and maybe a craft project. Maybe some baking...watch out now!

I saw this beautiful concrete project over at Chez Larsson. It seems a little daunting but could be fun to try. I know we have some leftover concrete mix somewhere in our garage.

Hubby? Hubby? Hubby? *said in my best Ben Stein impression*

Wouldn't you love to know how to make these? Can't stop making things came up with this great tutorial on it. It is really simple and the result is beautiful. I love it. I want to put them everywhere! Jars, pots, vases...

Vintage Tins Organizer

Oh I love this so much. I have a few tins lying around, mostly tea from the local Asian grocery store. This is such an easy project to do...I adore it.

Thank you Creature Comforts for yet another beautiful diy project.

Botanicus

If you didn't know already, Botanicus.org is an online database of millions of pages of old botanical books. It's free to download and use, so there are so many choices when it comes to botanical prints. I would personally use them for decoupage. The Missouri Botanical Garden is the one who undertook this online encyclopedia. It's a little difficult to navigate, but I think that is because of the sheer volume.

Rustic Kitchens

I don't know why I am attracted to rustic kitchens so much. Maybe it's because I want to feel like the meal I have been preparing is as easy as life was then. I like my kitchens lived in, with people crowding around and laughing. It is no fair when the person cooking has to be alone in a little box. The great thing is that they never go out of style and while it may seem that it is a simple design, it is far from it.

Curse you H&M!

I was first exposed to H&M when I was in my early 20s gallivanting around Europe. I just fell in love with how inexpensive their very fashionable clothes were. Since then they have actually opened two locations in my town but yet my ass has only gotten out there once. I guess when you can't have it, the appeal is stronger.

Now H&M is launching a homeware collection. They already have had success in a few European markets and will have it available online for the UK come September. I highly doubt they will do international shipping but maybe eventually. I'm sure in 10 years it will be available in the US, and I'll probably be over it. C'est la vie!

Beautiful patterns. I have never wanted a shower curtain so badly. Thanks HomeShoppingSpy. That's what I get for following an English blog.

Displaying Records

I recently got rid of a crap load of vinyl I had been holding onto. For starters, I didn't have a player so the idea of hording onto them seemed ridiculous and I needed to clear up space. We ended up having a yard sale and I had a lot of people come by. I did keep a few of course.

For record collectors, displaying a vinyl collection can be a creative way to show your passion for music. Creating this type of display can be pretty inexpensive.

Postcard Inn

Last minute for the holiday we decided to drive to St Pete Beach (about 1.5 hrs away) to visit a high school friend. Her sister was driving up with her family. I went to high school with these girls and they lived behind me then so we hung out a lot. Both of them have babies and I haven't seen them in months.

I had been wanting to check out this hotel called the Postcard Inn. I saw it in Conde Naste magazine and I know the NY times wrote it up. It was awesome. It was overcast most of our trip but it cleared up enough for us to hit the beach and pool for a bit.

I took all my pics with the hipstamatic app on the iphone.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.
