Yellow Doors

Is it 5 o'clock yet? I am so looking forward to the long weekend. We are going out to a birthday dinner this evening at a tapas restaurant in town. Who doesn't love tapas? I am looking forward to the good food and pitcher of sangria. Then tomorrow we are heading out to the beach! Two weekends in a row seems crazy and just wonderful! I love living in Florida.

So bright as this weekend will be, let some YELLOW into your life. Aside from being a color that is loud, yellow symbolizes wisdom, joy, and happiness. I hope this weekend brings you wisdom, joy, and happiness xox

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mourning Domino

Its been a year and a half since you have been gone. I miss you a lot. Its hard sometimes to carry on without you. Its hard sometimes to make it through my day without having you there to help. Holidays have been very tough. No matter how I slice it, my life will never be the same. Things are forever changed. Time truly will be the great healer and I have many friends that have helped me along the way.

I have many pictures that I go through sometimes when I need a pick me up. These fellow bloggers feel my pain too.

This picture inspired me years ago to paint my bedroom Peacock Blue. Found at Wondrous Pilgrim

Always loved this room! A year of marriage

And this one at Tobi Farley

I have all of your hard copies organized in decorative magazine files in my bedroom. Categorized by date and beautifully displayed like you would have wanted me to. There is even a support group on flickr that I frequent when I am down.

I hope that one day I can fully let you go, but I feel that I would be dishonoring your legacy. In the meantime, we celebrate your life.

Pretty Amazing Morning

Just one of those days. I'm not going to jinx it but its been pretty beautiful so far. I spotted a pure white hawk this morning on my way to work. Never seen anything like it. A lot of status updates I have read so far today have been very motivational and full of life. I love that energy.

The Shuttle Atlantis is preparing the land today here in Florida. For their flight home, the shuttle crew was woken up by "Supermassive Black Hole" by Mission Control. My mind is officially blown. I have been a huge MUSE fan for about 10 years now so this was just plain awesome. Article here.

We are getting one step closer to closing on a new house. An insane, you have seen nothing like it type of home. I'm getting twitchy not being able to share more about it. I promise as soon as its finalized you will hear a lot about it. In the meantime, be inspired...

Its a House of Turquoise kind of morning...

I love more then one color in the kitchen

White walls don't have to be boring

Sometimes it is nice for the bedroom to feel like a hotel

I like the mix of old and new - plus I am a sucker for mustard yellow

Hello from Florida Parking Space Takeover

Last night I had the rare opportunity to be able to go out with my husband during the week. Its not something that happens often, our schedules are so busy, but we welcome a date night anytime we can get it. I was so excited that were were able to go out into our city and attend a photography exhibit opening. Be all artsy and stuff. A friend of mine was showing his work for the first time at this event and as an added bonus, food was being done by a local personal favorite food blogger Honest Fare

The event was titled Hello from Florida: Photographs from the Sunshine State. It was part of a larger event, Snap, that is going on this weekend downtown. I love Florida, I love my life here, and I love the beauty of our state. The show was great. My friend's work was hands down the best in there. Seriously Ryan.

After the show we walked down the street and I ran into some other friends of mine were apart of another unique project. The Daily City is hands down the best local blog and last night they were doing one of their Mobile Art Shows in a Parking Space. They laid down some astro turf and some beach chairs and made a "park" on the streets of downtown. Eventually Mrbikecop had them move off of the street and onto the sidewalk. It was a nice night to be out. We had fun.

Hipstamatic Disney

If you have an iphone I highly suggest getting the Hipstamatic app. Its not free ($1.99) but worth it for sure in my opinion. You have the option of changing out lenses, film, and flash. I am a photographer novice so I have no idea what any of that means, but I do know that all pics I take with it, look awesome!

Yesterday my husband and I surprised the kids with a trip to Disney World! We had free tickets from the Give a Day program that was offered awhile back. We wanted to go during the week to beat the crowds, which we did. Space Mountain was a 20 minute wait. Anyways, I took some pics using the app and I am really happy with the results.

I haven't been to Disney in years! Sad right? Living in the same city and all....

I Want: Colorful Dining Chairs

I love color! I love bright walls that scream HELLO! LOOK AT ME! My husband, not so much. You should have seen the look on his face when I told him once that I wanted to paint our living room walls bright magenta. Needless to say I didn't...

An obvious way I have found to satisfy that color desire is to put some bright accessories in your home. Furniture is the next biggest thing, aside from walls, that will give you the bold look you desire. I've really been attracted to as of late..bright chairs!

Bam! BLANKÖ chairs from Ikea $19.99

or

My FAVORITE Tolix Dining Chairs.
French-made *sigh*
Rugged Galvanized steel *double sign*

Pottery Barn is selling them for $199/each

Terai Folding Chair @ Anthropologie $198

111 Navy Chair made from plastic bottles. $230 at DWR

And for some outdoor fun...Saw Italy - No idea on the price. My Italian is good, but not that good!

I have a few wooden chairs that were gifted to me by a good friend a few weeks ago. I am going to attempt to paint them when I can find some time, and I really hope that in my new living space, that I can put a few brightly colored chairs there.

DIY Succulent Chandelier

Done away with Tunage Thursdays. I tested it, saw if it worked, and decided it didn't..so *poof*

Instead let's get back to what this blog should be about...design, projects, inspiration

Check out this beautiful project I found today on Erin ever After

Erin's mother made this outdoor chandelier using a pot rack. Very clever and perfect for Florida. I see a couple of places already that this could work in my own space. Now to find the pot rack...

Orange Doors

Do you think you might want to let orange into your home? It probably isn't on the top of your list but orange is the color of knowledge and activity and it demands attention. I'm a Florida girl, born and raised,  so what better way to give homage to my home state, then by letting this color seep in.

Look Up: Painted Ceilings

I think adding some color to ceilings is a great way to take a room and really have it stand out. Ceiling paints are usually flat, but you can use an eggshell or satin finish. Just make sure your ceiling is free of imperfections because if you use a dark color, those marks will show up a lot more.

I am really digging this take on adding color to your outdoor covered deck via Sunset

A bit much?? A Tromp L'oeil ceiling at about.com

No post is complete without some Black ceilings at Apartment Therapy - I love the look but I can't decide whether I hate the chandelier decals more or the fact that this dressing room belongs to Miley Cyrus.
